A versatile new powertrain is now available in the Mazda BT-50, offering heaps more torque, plenty of power, the option of 4WD and two extra gears for even greater efficiency. 

Replacing the 1.9-litre engine, the new 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel increases power by 10kW to 120kW and torque by 50Nm to 400Nm. The boost in performance is delivered via a new eight-speed transmission, which also contributes to a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 0.7 litres per 100km and as much as 17g/km of CO2 versus its predecessor*. 

Available exclusively in XS specification and as a Single Cab Chassis, Dual Cab Chassis or Dual Cab Pickup configuration, the capable ute offers highlights such as LED headlamps, cruise control, a reverse camera, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto all fitted as standard. 

Previously only available as a 4x2 in the 1.9-litre, the new 2.2-litre engine can now also be specified as a 4x4 Dual Cab Chassis or Dual Cab Pickup, further enhancing its capability. 

The Dual Cab Pickup version also benefits from alloy wheels versus steel wheels for the rest of the BT-50 XS range. 

In addition, the proven 3.0-litre engine fitted to all XT model grades and above now also benefits from a new Idle Stop System, which can cut fuel consumption by as much as 11 per cent by switching off the engine when the ute is stationary. 

Elsewhere, XTR and GT 4x4 Dual Cab Chassis models will now feature a towbar as standard for even more practicality out in the field. 

The rest of the BT-50 model line-up is unchanged, with five model grades in total to choose from: XS; XT; XTR; GT and the range-topping SP. 

The new Mazda BT-50 range will be available to purchase from October in dealerships nationwide. An expansive selection of Mazda Genuine Accessories are also offered for the BT-50 range, all with a five-year, unlimited km warranty when fitted prior to delivery.

Fuel consumption and CO2 figures are based on ADR 81/02 test results. They are useful in comparing the fuel consumption and emissions of different vehicles. They may not be achieved in practice. This will depend on traffic and road conditions and how the vehicle is driven.
